Good mental health allows us to cope with life’s ups and downs. 

No matter how difficult life can feel at times, there is a range of local NHS and voluntary support services available for children and young people to support their mental health and emotional wellbeing. Support is available from a range of children mental health specialists, and includes face-to-face and virtual sessions, advice via text and phone lines.

To find mental health support, visit the Frimley Healthier Together website. It provides a list of mental health services and information to support you as a young person. It also offers resources for both parents and carers.

Poem to a parent - written and performed by young people

Supporting a young person’s mental health can often feel daunting but there is help out there for them and for you.

We have been talking to local young people and hearing their ideas for providing better support. One thing they have highlighted to us is the need for a mental health awareness campaign aimed at parents and carers.

Young people have consistently shared that parents and carers can help them to access the support they need but too often they can be a barrier to that support.

Listening to this, NHS Frimley worked in partnership with local young people through the charity Together As One and film company Resource Productions, to use poetry and filmmaking to express messages that young people told us are important and to provide a platform to share their views to parents and carers in the local community.

Little Blue Book of Sunshine

The #LittleBlueBookOfSunshine written with the help of young people aims to help teenagers by sharing lots of tips on how to deal with many problems, such as anxiety, body image, relationships and anger. It also includes information about where to get help when they need it. Anyone can sometimes feel down, worried or anxious because of a variety of situations like lockdown, school, family or friends. The #littlebluebookofsunshine explains some of thething'steenagers can do right now to feel better, and who to turn to if things feel too much.
