On Saturday 19 July, the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation attended Bracknell Forest Culture and Community Day to help raise awareness of an important health initiative coming to the area: the NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme, which will launch in Bracknell in September 2025.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Niloufer Ebrahim, a GP in Farnham, a group of health professionals and community partners, created a Farnham Health Inequalities Group.

This month long campaign exists to raise awareness of cancer health inequalities faced by Black, Asian and minority ethnic people. Cancer can affect anyone, but the risk, awareness, and outcomes can differ significantly between ethnic groups.

In some workplaces, alcohol and the job go hand-in-hand, whether it’s drinks with colleagues at lunch, or at the end of the day, or even drinking at work.

People seeking prescription of the weight-loss drug tirzepatide (marketed as Mounjaro®) are being asked not to approach their GP practice or other healthcare providers to request the medication. Instead, the treatment will be offered to people with the highest clinical need first, to prioritise those most likely to benefit and who are most at risk.

It’s because evidence suggests that in recent years the number of people drinking alcohol at harmful levels has risen, meaning they are going beyond – far beyond in some cases – the recommended weekly limits.
