The NHS is encouraging people across the Frimley Health and Care area to celebrate New Year’s Eve responsibly and plan ahead to help avoid unnecessary visits to hospital during one of the busiest nights of the year for health services.

make clear arrangements if caring for children, to look out for friends and family and to be mindful of the effects of drinking too much alcohol.
While many people will want to welcome in the New Year with celebrations, they are being urged to do so sensibly and to consider the impact their actions can have on already stretched hospital and ambulance services.
Accident and Emergency departments are under significant pressure, and by taking simple precautions, the public can help ensure services remain available for those who need urgent care the most.
Tips for celebrating safely this New Year’s Eve:
- Pace yourself if drinking alcohol, by alternating drinks with water. Nobody wants to start the New Year in hospital because they drank too much.
- Plan your journey home in advance. Knowing how you’ll get back safely can prevent problems at the end of an otherwise enjoyable night.
- Look after one another. If you’ve had less – or nothing - to drink, help make sure friends and family get home safely.
- If you need urgent medical advice, contact NHS 111 to speak to a fully trained adviser. They can assess your situation, give the right advice, and arrange an ambulance if necessary.
Thank you – and a Happy New Year to all.
