Whilst one in two of us will develop some form of cancer during our lifetime, World Cancer Day 2026 reminds us that no two cancer experiences are the same.
This year’s theme, United by Unique, recognises that every diagnosis, every journey and every person is different.
At Frimley Health, we understand that cancer is much more than a medical diagnosis. It is deeply personal and can affect all aspects of life; emotionally, physically and practically. Our teams are committed to delivering the best possible treatment and clinical care, but we also know that people often need support beyond this.
Whether you are living with cancer, supporting a loved one, or have questions following treatment, on World Cancer Day we want to remind you that help and support are available in many forms.
Frimley Health NHS Trust has two Macmillan Information and Support Centres, located at the main entrance of Wexham Park and in the new Patient Experience Centre at Frimley Park hospital. You will receive a warm welcome and face-to-face support from specialist staff and trained volunteers who will listen to what matters to you. Tailored information and support are available in person, by phone or via email.
Across Frimley health, there is a wide range of local support services, groups and events for people
affected by cancer and their families, including welfare benefits advice available from Citizens Advice Service; Look Good Feel Better workshops; Move Forward courses; and activity groups like the Kindred Spirit Choir. The Macmillan team can signpost you or you can look up online what is available in your local area via Cancer Care Map.
On World Cancer Day 2026 we also encourage you to use your voice and talk to your family, friends and network about cancer. Personal conversations can be incredibly powerful in raising awareness and understanding of cancer, as well as providing vital emotional, social and practical support to those on a cancer journey.
